Tucson Puppet Works, the combined effort of union
Big Head Puppets and Poppets Presents, creates huge oversized puppet
dramas at alternative arts events to the joy of all. Ranging from
the simply-oversized (skeletons 20 feet tall) to the grotesque (too
many to mention) to the downright awe-inspiring winged creature
that stole the All Souls Day parade, the TPW electrifies every event.
Their performances invoke an ancient need for public playacting
that seems to draw from the audience some primal response. The puppetmakers
teach their craft as well. The Puppet Works is one of Tucson's cultural
treasures.
