"Symmetry is the design tool of the weak," says
Emmfour. Then he goes on to prove it, spinning drum-and-bass sets
that leave aficionados weak in the chest. Architect by day, turntable
artist by night, designer 24-by-seven, Emmfour (known to the uninitiated
as Scott Gustafson) is gleeful in one moment, taciturn in the next.
He maps that sensibility across his media -- posters, tees, rockin'
sets, his softFIRM
| urban systems research project. Scott is a pragmatic modernist
of the first order. Along with co-conspirators
AZSessions, the transplanted Midwesterner sets a standard for
aural design excellence.
